Land Surveyor

The Land Surveyor assist with the planning, organization and direction of the performance of surveys to establish the location of property boundaries, contours and other natural or artificial, and prepares and maintains the cross-sectional views, official plans , records and documents pertaining to these surveys. Responsibilities - Check control points on the alignment as provided by designer and MTO.
- Ensure levelling of controls points.
- Confirm quantities for subcontracted work.
- Precise locates for utilities.
- Develop plans, methods and techniques for conducting legal surveys;
- Plans, directs and supervises surveys to establish and mark property boundaries, land parcels, land or Provincial Crown land affected by land claims, well-sites, mining claims , rights of way for utilities, roads and highways;
- Measures the precise locations using electronic equipment to measure distances as well as global positioning systems (GPS);
- Analyzes, manages and displays data using geographic information systems (GIS) and systems design and computer aided design (CAD);
- Assist with the preparation and compilation of all documents, data, charts and records related to geodesy and surveying;
- Certifies the data reported and take responsibility;
- Acts as a consultant in surveying and testifying as an expert in Surveys
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Knowledge of standards and applicable laws relating to surveying and construction
- GIS and GPS knowledge and the ability to use the technology in major road construction survey work
- Good hands on technical, communication, organizational, and planning skills
- Working knowledge of contract language and legal requirements of contracts
- Ability to accurately read plans and calculate shapes (geometric, etc.) also required.
Special Conditions - Individuals may be required to travel within Canada and elsewhere as directed
- Positions hence individuals may be subject to relocation to projects and offices within Canada and elsewhere according to Acciona resource requirements.
- Post secondary level Engineering Technologist Degree with a Geomatics (Survey) option or other equivalent relevant education and experience.
- 10 + years of experience in the field of civil construction
- Progressive experience from technical field work to management of a survey team surveying for major projects (projects of significant complexity and financial values exceeding $100M) including: highways, bridges, structures, interchanges.
- Experience with AutoCAD and GPS, or other 3D modeling software systems
- Preference will be given to candidates who have had some experience working in an international construction environment.
- Preference will be given to individuals who have experience working in a joint venture public private partnership environment.
- Post secondary level Engineering Technologist Degree with a Geomatics (Survey) option or other equivalent relevant education and experience.
